The Rev. C. Peter McCabe -"Fr. Pete"

It is with great pleasure that we announce the calling of our next rector, The Rev. C. Peter McCabe. Fr. Pete (as he is affectionately known), his beloved wife of 25 years, Karen, and their 13-year-old son, Ethan, will join our parish family on May 1, 2026.

Originally from the Washington D.C. region, Fr. Pete was ordained in the Episcopal Diocese of Albany and has served congregations in Colorado, Massachusetts, and Tennessee, where he most recently served on the bishop's council for the Episcopal Diocese of Tennessee, as well as the squadron chaplain for the Tennessee Army National Guard 278th Armored Cavalry Regiment Engineer Squadron. The McCabe's currently reside in Middle Tennessee.

Fr. Pete believes that "the church is called to be a place of belonging and wholeness - a community where people are embraced, equipped, and empowered to live out a faith that makes a tangible, positive impact in the places they call home."

Fr. Pete is a graduate of Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C, where he earned his Masters of Divinity, The University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Arts in History (Latin American concentration) and is currently writing the final chapters of his dissertation on the parish and missional church for a Doctorate of Ministry at Duke University Divinity School.

Fr. Pete is "committed to nurturing spiritual growth, strengthening congregational life, and equipping the Church for faithful witness in a changing world."

We look forward to introducing Fr. Pete, Karen, and Ethan to you in person this May. Until then, please remember them in your prayers as we welcome the McCabe's to Good Shepherd here in Punta Gorda, Florida.

The Peace of the Lord,

Your Vestry
